Missouri Municipal Court Reform Poses Problems for Many Courts

Under the new Missouri law, municipal courts in Missouri can only generate 12.5% of it city’s total revenue from traffic fines. The previous law capped city’s at 30%. The law has had a positive effect on many St. Louis area communities, particularly poverty-stricken areas. However, the change in the law has also had a big impact on many local St. Louis municipal courts financial situation.
