The rules for fighting charges have changed.
Have you ever been involved in an altercation where you had the option to press charges? This is no longer going to be the case. Police will now be able to arrest and charge individuals regardless of whether or not parties involved would like to see that happen. A new ordinance was passed in Festus, Missouri that will allow police officers to arrest any individuals involved in a fight. This means that even if the participants do not want to press charges against one another, charges can be made regardless. This can typically result in any of those individuals being charged with assault, battery, and/or disorderly conduct. This could also mean an increase in police patrols in relation to fights. These incidents can also open the door for Police to conduct searches incident to arrest and add charges of marijuana possession, minor in possession, or any other discovered crimes. Individuals may find themselves with Probation violations and Parole violations as a result of any of these charges.
