Man Charged With Shooting of Florissant Police Officer

May 30, 2012- The 20 year old man suspected in the shooting of a Florissant Police officer, has been charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, and burglary. Police say the man has confessed to hiding in a trash can and then ambushing the officer, firing 5 shots, 3 of which wounded the officer. Within an hour, police found the man hiding in a garage. The man charged has previous convictions of burglary and thefts, including first degree burglary which he was on probation for at the time of the shooting. Currently, the man is being held with a $500,000 cash only bail.
